Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

As most of you already know, I sadly lost my Dad on 12th January 2017 after a 7.5 year battle with prostate cancer.  Dad was one of the unlucky ones, his prostate cancer had spread to his lymph nodes and his bones and treatment could no longer prolong his life.

There is not a day goes by when I don't think about Dad.  We all miss him dearly, Mum especially. My friend gave me a photo with a poem that I hold close to my heartache -

"If I could write a story it would be the greatest ever told

Of a kind and loving man who had a heart of gold

I could write a million pages, but still unable to say

Just how much I love and miss him every single day

I will remember all he taught me, I'm hurt but won't be sad

Because he'll send me down the answers and he'll always be MY DAD."

I cannot thank the Christie hospital enough for the care they gave Dad, from his Consultant, his team, nurses, all staff and volunteers across the hospital. They all helped in their own ways to make stressful times, especially in Dad's last months more bearable.

You all probably realise that I am not built to run! My asthma has been misbehaving including a bad asthma attack last November.  Plus I have struggled with various injuries over the last 6 months.  However, after losing Dad I decided this was the challenge I needed to set myself and somehow, Dad will help me to get round.

Any donations will be gratefully received to support the work of the Christie and in memory of Dad.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving - they'll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. I am still buzzing after completing my first half marathon. 2hours and 21minutes ... not bad for a wheezy asthmatic. The biggest thing for me as been the overwhelming support I have received by all my family, friends & work colleagues. Today, my employer gave me £250!thank youx

Well it's the night before the big race and I have to admit I am feeling a mixture of nervous, excited and emotional about Dad. I am so delighted with all your support and the fact that I have reached over £1,500 for the Christie hospital. I am ever grateful for your generosity x

25th September 2017 - I ran the furthest I have ever run in my life today, 18km. The half marathon is 21km, so fingers crossed I can keep going! A massive thank you in particular to Helen Woodhouse, Tracy Booth, Dan Nutter and Jane Wilkinson for all helping me with my training. I couldn't have done it without you all. Thank you xxxxx
